Things to Check Before We Go

Packing

Bring everything you can buy here on principle. Everything’s more expensive once we leave!
We will be checking luggage, so make sure you pack all your large liquids (shampoo bottles, etc) into your big checked suitcase. We will also be able to wash, dry and iron clothes while we’re there, in case you’re trying to pack light.

- Toiletries
- Clothes for weather ranging from 50 to 80 degrees
- A nice outfit or two (for the Ritz and evenings out)
- Comfortable shoes!
- Backpack or large, zipped-up purse for carrying food and necessities around London
- Snacks and a water bottle
- Small-sized umbrella and raincoat
- Rainboots if you can find them cheap—walks in the woods are often very muddy
- Magazines, iPods and other necessities for occupying a 7-hour flight
- Phone for use while in American airports
- Many electronics (straighteners, curlers) won’t work in England because their plugs are different. Some DVDs are not also compatible, but Nana has an amazing collection of movies so it’s not necessary to bring any.

Money

Have $250 in cash with you when you get to the airport. We’ll change it into pounds once we arrive. If you do not have a debit card, let me know what you’re thinking about taking the extra $700. If you do have a debit card, just have the remaining $700 or so put on that and we can take some out as we need to from ATMs.

Passport and Tickets

Make sure you have your passport! Keep it in a safe place! Have a print-out of your flight details.
